Government bonds (synonym: government notes) are short-, medium- or long-term bonds (debt securities) issued by the public sector and other government entities. The state or other government entities are the issuers of the government bonds. The buyers of these papers, who thus lend money to “the state,” in turn profit from the interest accrued. Similar to T-bills, T-notes are U.S. government bonds, but they have a 10-year maturity.
