In Europe and North America, it is an important livestock feed, as ensiling of corn plants, i.e. storage, makes it possible to stockpile for livestock farming. Over the past decade, production of ethanol from corn has exploded in the United States. Today, over 50% of the corn crop is processed into ethanol.
